Garreth started working for the FSF at the beginning of 2009, and is something of a stranger in a foreign land in the North East. A Liverpool fan through the sort of stubbornness that only a middle-child seems to possess (steadfastly refusing to do anything his older brother did, and therefore dodging the bullet of becoming an Ipswich Town fan like the rest of the family), he’s a season ticket holder on the Kop and follows his side the length and breadth of the country, and indeed the continent. Now, though, he’s swapped an address in Toxteth for one on Tyneside, to join the FSF as International Officer.

His new role will see him, amongst other things, producing our International Ground Guide, providing information on the cities and sides that English teams come up against away in Europe, as well as updating the FSF’s Domestic Ground Guide.

His experiences on his travels will certainly help him in this regard, even if some of them don’t bear publication; suffice it to say that his travelling companions swiftly learned not to leave him in charge of the beer kitty if they wished to retain some semblance of a memory of the day’s events the following morning.

His top tip for a top trip? Make sure you keep your passport somewhere safe. After all, you wouldn’t want to find out the evening before you were going to Barcelona that you’d lost it, would you? As if anyone would be that stupid, though...
