A recent Scottish survey found that fans north of the border back the introduction of further technology to help referees get crucial decisions right.

Almost 1,000 supporters of Scottish Premier League clubs were quizzed in a study commissioned by the Clydesdale Bank.

And a massive 80% of them agreed that the time has come for video replays to be introduced to help officials make difficult calls.

Even more – some 84% - believe football would benefit from goal-line technology which will accurately determine whether or not a goal has been scored.

While an astonishing 88% of the supporters surveyed wanted to see referees using mics, in a style similar to that currently employed in SuperLeague rugby.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA counterpart Michel Platini were in Scotland last weekend for the International Football Association Board meeting at Gleneagles, and Scottish Football Association chief executive Gordon Smith confirmed the introduction of technology was on the agenda.
