 Tragic death of Blackburn fan

Tragic death of Blackburn fan

8th February 2010

The FSF would like to pass its condolences to the family and friends of John Taylor, a Blackburn Rovers fan who died in tragic circumstances after Saturday's Premier League match between Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.

Mr Taylor, from Darwen, Lancashire, was on the concourse underneath the South Stand at half-time when the incident occurred. He was found unconscious, having been struck on the head by a bin, and was treated at the scene for head injuries and subsequent cardiac arrest. He died in the early hours of Sunday morning at North Staffordshire's University Hospital.

Messages of condolence have been posted on this Facebook group by hundreds of fans of all clubs. John was just 30 years old, and leaves behind a wife and young son, and our thoughts are with them at this time.

RIP.
