Welcome to the latest The Week That Was, and it's back to normal following an incredibly busy time for us at the FSF. If you're wondering why there was no TWTW last week, all our eyes were on Fans' Parliament. From pub crawls to five-a-side, breakout sessions to debates, it all went off swimmingly, and thanks to all who came up to Newcastle to be a part of it.

In the rest of the football world, we've had some on the pitch matters to grab our attention. The Confederations Cup and the European U21 Championships are in full swing, and not short of incident. While just about everyone who's tuned in to coverage from South Africa is now sick of the infamous vuvuzelas, there've been shocks on the pitch - World Champions Italy falling to Egypt, and USA toppling Spain to reach the final.

Meanwhile Stuart Pearce and his young charges are through to the semi-finals in Sweden, and we hope that next week's TWTW will be full of praise for an England triumph.

The transfer merry-go-round has continued, with Roque Santa Cruz joining Man City, and Glen Johnson swapping Fratton Park for Anfield, both for eye-watering sums (unless you're Real Madrid, of course). At the other end of the financial spectrum, MyFootballClub's members voted overwhelmingly to sell two of Ebbsfleet United's players for a total of £80,000.

Elsewhere Michael Owen's confirmed he's leaving Newcastle, but so far only Stoke City and Hull City have shown any interest. We think he might've finally made his mind up having seen next season's away strip!

The demise of Setanta was confirmed over the weekend, which was hardly a shock of Michael Jackson proportions. ESPN have now picked up their 46 games for next year's Premier League, likely to be broadcast through the Disney Channel. Mickey Mouse footie, anyone?
