We’re delighted to hear that our good friends at the National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS) have been awarded 1m Swiss Francs (£575,000) by Uefa to establish a new Europe-wide charity called CAFE (Centre for Access to Football in Europe).

CAFE will seek to ensure that all disabled people can follow football in Europe by achieving equality of access to the game in all Uefa member associations. Facilities for disabled people varies considerably across Europe, as does the cultural and social view, and this is something CAFE will seek to tackle.

NADS chair Joyce Cook and ambassador Danny Wallace (ex-Southampton, Manchester United and England) attended Uefa’s glitzy ceremony in Monaco on Thursday August 27th and were presented with the cheque by Uefa president Michel Platini.

The CAFE website will provide disabled supporter information on European football stadiums alongside disability access guidance. It will also provide an evolving database containing information on disabled supporter groups and associated organisations across football in Europe.
