Southern Division meeting this Sunday (Feb 28th)

23rd February 2010

The next meeting of the Southern Division of the Football Supporters’ Federation will take place at this Sunday, February 28th at the New Den (Arry’s Bar at midday) – come along and see what we’re all about.

FSF members and non-members alike are welcome - if you’d like to attend, have any queries, or want an item added to the agenda please email Julie Beattie.

The FSF’s Southern Division will have a catch up on all the relevant issues at local clubs before considering:

  • WHAT PRICE MORALITY? Do footballers’ high-salaries mean they must also be role-models for society? Are players as bad as portrayed in the media? What role should clubs and the football authorities take in policing players’ behaviour? FANS’
  • FANS' PARLIAMENT 2010. The FSF’s annual conference is set to take place in London in July. What do FSF members want from Fans’ Parliament and what can individuals and affiliates do to help?
  • FOOTBALL AT A FINANCIAL CROSSROADS. February 2010 will go down in history as the month of financial reckoning for debt-laden football clubs. What are the options to bring debt under control, and how can fans bring about change for the better?
  • WATCHING FOOTBALL IS NOT A CRIME. What are the worst examples of supporters being treated differently to “citizens” just because they happen to enjoy watching football? Where does reasonable, responsible policing end and where does infringement of civil liberties begin? If this interests you check out Sit Down, Shut Up: Are Football Supporters Discriminated Against? here which takes place at Brick Lane’s Vibe Bar on Thursday March 4th. Entry is free but registration is required.

The Southern Division’s regional meeting takes place at Arry’s Bar, Millwall FC, The New Den, Zampa Road, London, SE16 3LN on Sunday, February 28th (kick-off is midday). Further directions are also available from Millwall FC's website.

The meeting will start at midday and a buffet will be provided, so please remember to register with Julie Beattie. We need to make sure we get enough sandwiches in after all!
