Football Supporters Europe (FSE) have this week launched their new Whistleblower Campaign which calls on all European clubs and Football Associations to stop ripping off away fans.

Supporters following their team in Europe, or those who follow their national team, will be familiar with paying well over the odds for tickets.

Fans travelling abroad to follow their club in UEFA competitions this season have already reported instances of host clubs charging up to 10 times as much for entry to the away end, in comparison to the prices paid by the home support. Not only are such ticketing practices immoral – travelling fans have already forked out on transport costs and should never be expected to pay more than home fans – but they are actually in breach of UEFA’s guidelines.

“In the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations it is clearly stated that ‘unless the associations or clubs concerned agree otherwise, the price of tickets for supporters of the visiting team must not exceed the price paid for tickets of a comparable category that are sold to supporters of the home team,’” points out FSE member Tam Ferry.

 “Loyal away fans have for too long been subjected to unfair pricing and by getting our message out to European fans we hope to expose the extent of this abuse, and eliminate this discrimination of away fans,” says the FSE’s Pedro Faleiro Silva. “Football is nothing without fans, and all fans deserve to be treated equally. If you know of away ticket pricing abuse, please get in touch with FSE as soon as possible, ideally before the match, through tickets@footballsupporterseurope.org with as much proof of the pricing disparity as possible!”

So if you spot that your club’s support is being charged more than the home fans don’t just complain about it on a forum - do something about it. Collect some evidence, let your club and domestic FA know, and then email the evidence to FSE who will then take this to UEFA and put an end to this dodgy practice.
