We knew things were bad at Fratton Park, you'd have had to have your head in the sand since a time when Jermain Defoe wore blue not to, but even we were taken aback with the news that Portsmouth’s official website has gone down – presumably as bills have not been paid.
It makes a change from not paying the players anyway.
You have to feel sorry for Pompey’s fans at the minute, it must be a pretty horrible time to follow the club. As ever in hard times though the true fan sticks it out and hats off to them for that.
Last week they were marching on Fratton Park in protest at the club’s off-the-field management while appealling to Ali Al Faraj to put his money where his mouth is, if he has it of course.
Similarly the newly formed Portsmouth Supporters’ Trust has responded to the Pompey website crash and rushed to the rescue when they heard that the official PFC website was down.
With fans clamouring for ticket news on the upcoming FA Cup clash with local rivals Southampton, Pompey supporters should keep an eye on www.pompeytrust.com where all ticket information will be posted.
Well done to the Trust for acting so quickly, the site could be a vital resource for fans if the club don’t put some change in the virtual meter soon.
Edit to say - Since posting this story the club's website appears to be back up and running for the time being at least. Hats off to the Trust for acting so quick to notify fans though and at least you know where to go if it happens again now!
