The annual general meeting (AGM) of the FSF’s Southern Division will take place at the Old Star Public House (66 Broadway, Westminster, London, SW1H 0DB) on Sunday May 23rd 2010. The meeting will start at noon and lunch will be provided for all those who registered.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
As this is the Southern Division’s AGM nominations are invited for the following posts: chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer, national delegate, and pyramid surveillance officer. Pam Wilkins will not be standing for re-election to the FSF’s National Council and Jon Keen is standing down as chairman.
Please email Julie Beattie with any nominations for any of the aforementioned positions. While everything at the minute seems to be elections, elections, elections there’ll also be plenty more up for discussion at the meeting including:
- THE SPECTRE RETURNS? This season has seen a number of incidents of trouble at matches with worrying scenes at Sheffield Wednesday and Luton among others. Are these the first signs of a return to the bad old days of the 80s and if so what can fans do to stem the tide? Or is it just a few isolated examples indicative of no wider trend?
- ON THE PITCH? Are end-of-season pitch invasions a part of our football tradition and understandable exuberance or unacceptable incursions by the selfish minority that should be stamped out? Are pitch invasions ever legitimate?
- WHAT PRICE MORALITY? Is what players do on the pitch all that is important or do their high salaries mean they must also be role models for society? What role should clubs and the football authorities take in this and are players as bad as often portrayed in the media?
Anyone else who has a topic for discussion should email Julie Beattie. The Old Star Public House is on the corner of Broadway and Queen Anne’s Gate and opposite St James’s Park Tube Station (Circle and District Lines). There is some off-street parking (free on Sundays) in nearby streets. The meeting will be in the upstairs function room. You can view the minutes of the last Southern Division meeting from this link.
