News from Yorkshire, Midlands and Southern Divisions

The FSF's Yorkshire and Southern Divisions both have seperate meetings on Sunday, April 19th. By freakish coincidence, they're both AGMs too, one for the X-Files. In line with the FSF’s constitution every division has its own Annual General Meeting where elections take place along with the usual debates and banter. Also the Midlands are having their relaunch meeting, the first given by the new Midlands Divisional Secretary John Brockwell. The meetings are open to members and non-members alike. If you are interested in the FSF’s campaigns, get yourself along to your divisional meeting and find out how you can get involved.

The next meeting of the FSF's Yorkshire Division will take place on Saturday, April 19th at the Spinning Wheel pub, Admiral Street, Leeds, LS11 5NG. You can view the location of the Spinning Wheel here. There will be a finger buffet from 12.30pm and the meeting will start at 1pm. If you’d like to find out a little more about what’s on the agenda, or have any issues to raise, email divisional secretary Alan Bloore.

The Southern Division's AGM will take place at Old Star Public House, Westminster, 66 Broadway, Westminster, London, SW1H 0DB on Sunday 19th April 2009. The meeting will start at 12.00 noon and a working lunch will be provided.  Directions to the venue. Nominations are invited for the following posts: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, National Delegate (one position), Pyramid Surveillance Officer. Contact Julie Beattie if you have any further queries or nominations.

Topics for discussion at the Southern meeting will include:

  •  “Team GB” – is it a good idea?
  • Do we have too many professional teams? If they can’t pay their way, should they be forced to fold or merge?
  • Spreading the Word – what would attract people to a London evening open meeting?
  • The season so far -  what have been your highs and lows, your heroes and villains?

The Old Star Public House is on the corner of Broadway and Queen Anne’s Gate and opposite St James’s Park Tube Station (Circle and District Lines). There is some off-street parking (free on Sundays) in nearby streets. We will be in the upstairs function room. For further directions click here and here.

The relaunch meeting of the Midlands Division of the FSF takes place at Walsall FC (Saddlers Club) at 7:30pm on Thursday 16th April, 2009. There will be a light buffet provided and the doors will open at 7:00pm.

FSF chair Malcolm Clarke will be in attendance and will be able to update those present on current campaigns of the FSF as well as election of committee and ‘focus on the Midlands’ an opportunity for you to voice your concerns and received advice are all on the agenda for the meeting.

Those wishing to attend are requested to email divisional secretary John Brockwell on john.brockwell@fsf.org.uk so that we can get an idea of the numbers that we need to cater for with regards to the buffet.
