Fans for Diversity: Exhibition launch

A photography exhibition that captured football fans from around the world watching the Euros in London this summer will be launching next week.

The Fans for Diversity: L'Internationale exhibition will showcase the work of photographer Liam Aylott, who spent the duration of this summer's tournament capturing fans supporting their national teams.

"London has more nationalities than any other city in the world," Liam said. "So I set out to photograph them watching the Euros.

"I wanted the project to be a celebration of diversity in the city. Shooting this project heightened my consciousness of how hugely important different cultures and communities are to London, for me it’s one of the main things that make it such a great city."

The exhibition opens next Tuesday at Oxford House in Bethnal Green. Liam's project was commissioned by the Fans For Diversity campaign, a joint area of work between the Football Supporters' Federation and Kick It Out.

Fans For Diversity campaign leader Anwar Uddin said: "This is exactly the sort of initiative that we aim to support through the Fans For Diversity Fund.

"Liam’s project is just a brilliant celebration of everything that’s great about football – fans from a range of different backgrounds coming together for one game in support of their team."

Fans for Diversity: L'Internationale runs from Wednesday 12th October till Thursday 20th October. If you're interested in attending the launch, contact anwar.uddin@fsf.org.uk
