Arsenal fans back safe standing trial

In their annual survey of almost 3,000 Arsenal fans, the Gooner Fanzine discovered that there was significant support for the introduction of safe standing at the Emirates.

79% of respondents in the survey supported the installation of a safe standing section at the Emirates stadium, with only 10% against the idea. Additionally - 80% of those surveyed felt that safe standing "would improve the atmosphere at the ground".

A further interesting finding of the survey was that a majority of 54% would personally prefer to use the safe standing areas as opposed to seated areas. Contrasted with the previous figures of 79% and 80%, this shows that many fans who don't wish to use safe standing personally still support the choice being made available within the ground.

Earlier this month both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur said that they have not ruled out including the ability to introduce safe standing areas in both of their new stadium developments.

Celtic were given permission to install rail seats earlier this year, which they expect to be in place for the 2016/17 season while in Wales, the Welsh Assembly continues to back calls for a safe standing pilot.
