The Weser Stadion, as its name suggests, is on the banks of the river Weser around two miles east of the main city centre of Bremen.
It has a capacity of just over 42,000 for league matches, including around 10,000 standing places. These have to be converted to seats for European competitions, naturally, meaning the capacity is lowered for Champions League games.
On match days, the area around the Weser-Stadium is closed to traffic from 2 ½ hours before until shortly after kick-off. Consequently, there are no parking spaces available directly at the stadium.
But the good news is for visitors arriving by car, there are a lot of free Park & Ride spaces, which we recommend to use, especially those at the car park “Hemelinger Hafen” since there are free shuttle services to and from that car park.
How to get to the Park and Ride Car Parks:
Take the exit “Hemelingen” and then drive in the direction of the P+R car park “Hemelinger Hafen”, which is well signposted. Parking is free of charge on display of a valid ticket for the match. From there, shuttle buses will take you to the stadium and back to the car park again. The trip lasts about 10 minutes.
For fans having a valid ticket, this service is free of charge as well. The shuttle services begin about one hour to one and a half hours before kick-off and run right up to the match. Shortly after the end of the match, the shuttle services back to the car park will start. There are quite a number of shuttle buses so that you don’t need to fear a long wait. The shuttle services will last until all the people who want to be taken back to the car park have been picked up.
Tickets for Werder Bremen’s home matches are valid for public transport in the city of Bremen from six hours before kick-off until the end of the day.
By Tram from the Central Station
Take line 10 in the direction of “Sebaldsbrück” and get off at the stop “St.-Jürgen-Straße”. From “Domsheide” Take line 2 in the direction of “Sebaldsbrück” and get off at the stop “St.-Jürgen-Straße”, or take line 3 in the direction of “Weserwehr” and get off at the stop “Weser-Stadion”.
On non match days, if there are no events taking place in the Weser-Stadion and you wish to visit the stadium, you can park your car opposite to the east curve. The parking area is called “P2a”.
Disabled Parking Spaces
Disabled parking spaces can be reached via the ramp that leads off the “Osterdeich”. When you arrive at the car park, the stewards will give you further instructions where to park your car. Please do not forget to visibly display your disabled badge in the front windscreen of your vehicle.
