The İnönü Stadium was constructed in the period of the 2nd President İsmet İnönü and commissioned on May 19, 1947.
The first match in İnönü Stadium took place between Beşiktaş and AIK from Sweden.
Renovation work at the BJK İnönü Stadium was completed in 2004, lowering the pitch by around 4 metres to increase the capacity of the stadium to 32,145.
From the stands you are able to see the Bosphorus, which separates the European and Asian sides of the city, as well as Dolmabahce Mosque and Palace.
Location of the Ground in the City
The stadium is located, unsurprisingly, in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, which is on the European side of the city.
General Ground Information
The gates are normally opened 3 to 4 hours before normal matchdays, but sometimes up to 6 or 7 hours before derby and European Cup games.
