Location of the Ground in the City

The Nou Camp stadium is located about 3km north-west of the Ramblas and approximately 5km from the city centre.

General Ground Information

The Camp Nou is Catalan for ‘new field’, sometimes reversed in other languages to become Nou Camp. The Nou Camp stadium is located about 3km north-west of the Ramblas and approximately 5km from the city centre. With its capacity of 98,787 it is the largest football stadium in Europe. It’s official name is Estadi del Futbol Club Barcelona - translates as FC Barcelona Stadium, although it is known as Camp Nou/Nou Camp by football fans around the world.

The stadium was built in 1957, designed by architects Francesc Mitjans, Lorenzo Garcia Barbon and Josep Soteras and consists of facilities such as a souvenir shop, mini pitches for training matches, and a chapel for players to seek divine assistance before matches!

You should be able to enjoy unobstructed views from basically everywhere in the stands. The main stand is covered, the rest are open. The away fans are given a very small section on the top tier across the tunnel, accommodating around 4,500 people. Space to hang flags is rather limited, as there is advertising around the majority of potential spaces.

There is a quite popular museum at the ground itself that also offers stadium tours (bookings for stadium tours)
Entrances to both tours are at entrance No. 7. Opening hours: 10:00 - 18:30 Mon-Sat; Sun & Bank Hols 10:00 - 13:30. Admission is €6.50 for entry to museum and €10.50 for a guided tour. There is disabled access for both Museum and stadium tours. Nearest Metro Station: Collblanc (Blue Line, L5)

Just behind the Nou Camp complex is the Mini Estadi, the stadium where FC Barcelona B and sometimes Andorra team play their matches.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the stadium, the club was calling for an international tender for architects to develop a project for re-modelling the stadium. In September 2007 the award-winning UK architect Lord Foster was declared the winner of this €250m face-lift.

Construction of the new Camp Nou  will begin in 2009 and is due to be completed by the start of the 2011-2012 season.

Getting to the Ground (By Public Transport)
