History

The DSB Stadion opened on 4th August 2006 with a match between AZ and Arsenal. The hosts lost 3-0, with Gilberto Silva scoring the opening goal. The first league game in the stadium ended up slightly more favourable for the home side, with an 8-1 victory over NAC Breda.

The capacity of the stadium is 17,000, double the size of the club's previous home at Alkmaarderhout.

Location of the Ground in the City

The DSB Stadion is located right next to the A9 motorway, at the southern edge of the city at the end of Vondelstraat, approximately 2-3km from the city centre.
