Stadium Stand Information

Away fans find themselves in the North East corner of the stadium. They should enter the ground at Parque Chanot Hall 7.The easiest way to get there is from the metro terminal station “St. Marguerite-Dromel” and walk along the Ganay Stand.

The north stand is home to the Ultra groups Yankee Nord Marseille, Marseille Trop Puissant, Fanatics, and Dodgers supporters associations.

The south kop style end is dominated by the two biggest Ultra groups of Olympique de Marseille which are also famous for their exceptionally massive display of banners and colours at the beginning of the game, called Commando Ultra in the lower half and the South Winners in the upper half of the central section.

In accordance with the club, all these groups manage the sale of season and single tickets amongst their members themselves after buying them up at the beginning of each season.

Security Arrangements for Entry

Manchester United's trip in 2010 saw some typically 'robust' policing from the French authorities, and complaints about fans missing the beginning of the match having been held in the warehouse, the hangar area just outside the away end that the police use to house away fans before escorting them to the ground, for too long.

Access and egress are not the smoothest or quickest to and from the Velodrome, so we'd recommend getting there in plenty of time before kick-off to make sure that you get in on time (it's not unknown for fans to be held for more than 30 minutes in the warehouse before being escorted into the ground). Leaving the stadium at full-time is often a case of patience - there's only one main gate through which fans leave, and this can cause something of a bottleneck on the stairs. If you are claustrophobic or want to avoid a potential crush, it's best to wait until most fans have left before you make your way down.

Facilities Inside the Ground

Facilities inside the ground, meaning toilets as well as subsistence facilities, are rather poor but there are several pubs within convenient walking distance to the ground.

However, these pubs are mostly crowded on matchdays as they are mainly frequented by Marseille supporters. If you tend to go there, be aware that there have been problems between English football supporters and locals in the past.

There are also about 500 spaces for wheelchair users located at the bottom of the Ganay Stand of the Stade Vélodrome, more than at any other ground in France.

Matchday Arrangements

These guides act primarily as a source of information for fans travelling to UEFA Champions League and Europa League games. Specific matchday information will be added here when it is received from the clubs ahead of any fixture.
