General Introduction
Internazionale are one of European football’s powerhouses, and their famous black and blue stripes are known the world over. Formed after separating from their city rivals AC Milan in 1908, the club have an incredibly impressive domestic and European record, and are the now the only side never to be relegated from Serie A – Juventus also held this honour until they were relegated to Serie B following the recent match-fixing scandal.
The club twice broke the world transfer record in the 1990s, with their captures of Ronaldo and Christian Vieri, yet despite such financial largesse they failed to win a single championship or Coppa Italia over the whole decade. Recent times have seen them more successful; they’ve won 3 scudettos and 2 cups since the turn of the century.

Brief Ground Location
The stadium is located in the west end of the city, in the district of San Siro (which lends its name to the ground). Although officially renamed in honour of Guiseppe Meazza, a great of both Inter and AC Milan, it is still commonly referred to as the San Siro.
Fans & Foes
Naturally, there is an intense rivalry with city neighbours AC Milan. The two clubs share the same ground, and are two of the most successful sides in Italian football history. In 2005 a derby between the two sides had to be halted after the Milan keeper Dida was struck by a flare thrown by an Inter fan.
Inter also have a major rivalry with Juventus – the two sides are the best-supported sides in Italy, and are also usually battling out matters at the top end of Serie A.
Club Honours
Inter have won an impressive 16 Scudettos, including 3 in a row leading up to the start of the 2008-09 season. They have also finished runners-up on 14 occasions.
They’ve won the Italian Cup 5 times, and won back-to-back European Cups in the mid 1960s. They also won 3 UEFA Cups, all in the 1990s, their last triumph coming in 1998.
