Basel's Tourist Board has an excellent and helpful website, which'll furnish you with all you could want to know about the town.
Cash / Currency Exchange
The Swiss Franc is the currency of choice, although with its immediate proximity to France and Germany, you'll find a lot of shops and restaurants effectively operating a dual currency system and will just as readily take Euros.
Not all bars and restaurants, however, have credit cards, so be sure to check beforehand if this is how you intend to pay, as it may be embarrassing come the end of the meal if you've got to skip off to a cashpoint.
ATMs, thankfully, are liberally dotted around the town.
