Taxis in Rome are white. There are fixed fares from airports to the city centre. From Fiumicino to the city centre it will cost €40. From Ciampino it will cost €30. There is a fee for luggage, around €1 per bag. Watch out for any unlicenced taxi drivers or limousine drivers (dark cars) that approach you at the terminals. Do NOT negotiate the price for the city centre and ensure the driver activates the meter if he is driving to another destination than the centre.

Ciampino Airport is outside of the city limits, this implies that the fare for the first 10 minutes of the journey is higher (a number 2 appears on the meter). The driver is supposed to change the fare to number 1 once he hits the ring highway (GRA) and enters the city limits
