The Alkmaar tourist office is located on the ground floor of the Waag, in the main square in the city centre. They have an excellent website, too, which is well worth checking out before you go.
Cash / Currency Exchange
The Netherlands uses the Euro (€). Notes are in denominations of €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500 while coins come in cents (5-cent, 10-cent, 20-cent, 50-cent, and €1 & €2). Many businesses are unlikely to accept any notes larger than €50 though, so bear this in mind when exchanging cash.
Hospitals
The Medisch Centrum Alkmaar is located in the Alkmaardehout park, which is to the south of the city (near the site of the former AZ stadium).
