Istanbul’s accommodation is fast becoming pricier. If you’re on a limited budget it is best to look at hostels rather than hotels.
Best Areas to Stay
Harbiye is the nicest place to stay because it is in the main centre of the new city on the European side.
Niştanaşi and Taksim are only 5 minutes away.
Taksim is the main centre for the new city on the European side with several moderate priced hotels for those on a budget.
Sultanahmet is the main centre for the old city on the European side. But be aware, if you choose to stay there your sleep may get interrupted by the morning call to prayer emanating loudly from the Blue Mosque!
