Amkar Perm
Division:
Russian Premier League
General Information
The city is dominated by the enormous Kama River, Europe's fourth largest. The river is at its narrowest as it flows through the city to the north, but is still over 1km wide at this point.
We're doing our best to dig up as much information as possible, though, and appreciate that not many fans will be making the trip out to Russia for the game. If you are, though, and if you have any questions that aren't answered on here, by all means email us at the FSF and we'll do what we can to find it out for you.
Main Tourist Sights
There is a huge museum dedicated to the military in the north of the city, in the Motovilikha district. Perm was the centre of production for Soviet rockets and artillery, and their displays feature a wide history of Soviet militaria.
The Central Square boasts a Soviet war monument, and the Drama Theatre. The Central Bazaar can be found here (closed Mondays) which is a huge market offering the best opportunity for getting some authentic Russian souvenirs.
On nearby Sibirskaya Street, the Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre can be found, alongside such historical curios as the hotel in which the last Russian Tsar Mikhail Romanov spent his final days, and the city's former KGB headquarters.
The Perm Art Gallery is housed in the former Preobrazhehsky Cathedral, built in the early 1800's. Its tower can be seen from almost everywhere in the city, and the museum offers a range of art exhibits.
The main road in the city is the Komsomolosky Prospekt, and runs south from the river. This is where you'll find a great deal of the city's restaurants and shops, alongside some typical Soviet architecture.
Getting Around Generally
The public transport infrastructure in the city is good, but has been described as 'confusing', with many journeys involving a change of tram/bus. Tickets are bought from conductors onboard trams and buses, and start from 5 Roubles.
Taxis are plentiful, although we'd warn any travelling fans to agree a fare in advance of any journey, and to beware of unlicensed taxis and scams.
