Manchester City

Division:
FA Premiership

By Train

Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria are the closest main line stations to SportCity. Both are approximately a 20 to 30 minute walk from the C.O.M.S.

Ashburys is a smaller station situated to the south on Alan Turing Way and is a 15 minute walk to the stadium Manchester is well served by rail. Timetables, journey times and prices can found by visiting The Trainline.

By Bus

If you are travelling to Manchester by coach, the National Express coach station is located in Chorlton Street, which is to the back of Piccadilly Gardens. A short walk across the gardens will bring you to the bus stops where you can get one of the many buses to the stadium (Outside Nobles Arcade)

There are many and frequent services to Sportcity from all directions. Direct services to the stadium are: 53, 54, 185, 186, 216, 217, 230, 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, X36, and X37.

The journey from Manchester city centre takes around 5 - 10 minutes depending on the flow of traffic. The buses obviously get fuller the closer it gets to kick off, but don’t worry if you are not allowed on one because it is full, there are so many buses that go past the stadium you won’t have to squeeze yourself onto one like sardines.

For more information on the bus services you can visit www.gmpte.com or call 0161-228-7811 or 0870-608-2608

After the match, it is advisable to walk back into Manchester as the buses get rather overcrowded and it is highly likely you could wait a long time before you get on one. Taxis will come into the area before the game but rarely pick-up after a game due to the traffic congestion around the stadium. There is a safe, sign posted and well lit route from SportsCity to the city centre and Piccadilly Station. It takes in Holt Town, Ashton New Road, Pollard Street and Store Street. Stewards will be on hand along the route which takes around 20-30 minutes depending on your speed (and the result!). The walk is a virtual straight run into Piccadilly Station. If you want Victoria Station you turn right when you reach Ancoats Industrial Estate (Great Ancoats Street) and continue down into Swan Street. Victoria Station is on your left at the bottom of Swan Street.

To the back of stadium there is a large capacity car park, entrance on Alan Turing Way (2,000 spaces). You will not be allowed to park on the Asda or McDonald’s car parks and both have marshals checking them on match-days.

There is plenty of street parking less than a quarter of a mile away on the side streets off Ashton New Road.

Other Ways To Get There

By Taxi

You have the option of getting a taxi from Manchester city centre, but the nearer you leave this to kick-off time, the less chance you have of getting to the stadium on time due to traffic congestion around the stadium vicinity.

There is a taxi rank immediately outside Piccadilly Station or you can get a cab from outside the Midland Hotel in Piccadilly Gardens.

These are both Hackney Cab ranks so the fare will be more expensive than if you use a private hire company. Expect to pay anything between £5-£7 to the stadium, prices depending on the traffic at the time. The journey should take no more than 10 minutes if the traffic flow is good, but give yourself at least 20-30 mins the later to kick-off you leave it. Alternatively you can book a private hire cab:

Eastlands Cars 0161 223 8999/9777
