The stadium has 262 spaces in the home areas and 20 in the away area (Darwen End) for wheelchair users. All positions are at pitch level (this means there is little cover if the weather is inclement, a issue for which the club has been criticised for recently.
On the other hand, the allocated spaces do give a more or less an unimpeded view of the pitch. Helpers will be given seats just behind the wheelchair spaces.
There are now 50 disabled parking spaces, mixed for home and away supporters, though some are reserved for season ticket holders. You are advised to ring the ticket office in advance to make arrangements, or contact the Ground Safety Officer, John Newsham, on 01254 296226 for specific disabled enquiries.
Access is via any of the four corners of the ground and only a slight slope is involved from any direction. There are ten adapted toilets for disabled supporters in the home areas and four in the away (Darwen End) area. All have emergency alarms.
There are 14 catering outlets around the ground serving the lower concourses, but with the exception of the ones at either end of the CIS Stand, wheelchair users would need assistance from a steward to access them.
There are no specific arrangements in place for hearing impaired supporters. Visually impaired supporters can sit anywhere in the stadium and follow commentary on the game on the club’s own “narrowcast” radio station, Radio Rovers, 1404AM. Ambulant disabled supporters can generally sit where they wish, but the club suggests that front row pitch side “offers best access”, whatever that means.
