Eating & Drinking
Where to start? Outside the ground, around Park View Road, and Welling High Street there are so many places to eat you really are spoilt. McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, 2/3 Cafes, Kebab Shops, Indian Takeaways as well as Cantonese and Chinese. more...
Then there’s the bakery’s that serve sandwiches or sausage rolls if you’re looking for something quick and simple. The furthest of the above is McDonalds which is no more than 10 minutes walk away; this is roughly three quarters of a mile of the walk away from the station to the ground, being nearer the station.
The best kebab shop I hear you ask? Kebab ye, you can’t go wrong in there, and usually a free can of soft drink with every order, after that who cares about the result? There are a few pubs up and down Welling high street, but these are mainly weatherspoons and other well known outlets. Your best bet is to keep to the Guy Earl Of Warwick pub situated right next to the ground, Friendly, Cheap Beer, Sky sports, and food.
What more do you really want?
If you want a quick drink by the station, then there is a pub opposite the entrance, although keep a watch on your back as there not the friendliest of people who drink in there. Recently there have been stabbings in there (Not on football days mind you, but still be careful). Inside the ground there is the one burger van, ironically selling burgers (would’ve never guessed that). Also you have a selection of hot dogs, bacon sarneys, bacon burgers, cheese burgers; Twix’s, Mars bars and snickers as well as the seemingly compulsory Kit Kat. Then there’s the selection of drinks including soft drinks, Tea, Coffee, Bovril and a selection of soups. The prices are a little on the steep side with a plain burger costing £2.50! Maybe its better buying one for 69p at McDonalds? Still you never know what the animal the meats from in there!! You’re always safe with a burger from Welling United. Next to the burger van is a table with, all the sauces (Tomato, Brown, Mustard, and Burger Sauce), Salt, Pepper, Sugar, and sweeteners. There are two spoons to stir you’re tee/coffee with also, these are used by everyone though as there metal ones.
Not the most hygenique solution, but this isn’t premiership football. Next to the table is a big bin for all your rubbish, which is kindly appreciated if you use this and the other bins dotted around, rather than leaving your rubbish on the floor.
