Fan's SOS distress signal - “Get me the FSF!”

Liverpool fans’ union The Spirit of Shankly (SOS) is one of the best known, and most active, supporters’ groups in the UK. So it wasn't a total surprise when SOS spokesman James McKenna got in touch to say the police had unfairly charged him with a public order offence for the heinous crime of shouting 'Yanks Out!' at Messrs Hicks and Gillett. Thankfully the FSF swooped into action and the case was rightly kicked out.

FSF Facebooked

We've taken a step closer to total domination of cyberspace by setting up an FSF Facebook fanpage - sign up as a fan and click on ‘Suggest to friends’ just below the logo in the top left hand corner to spread the word to all of your football supporting Facebook friends.

We'll update with news from our homepage, links to stories from around the world of football, along with anything else we can think of, and updates are also automatically sent to our Twitter feed @The_FSF. The existing @FSF_FreeLions Twitter account will be solely for international news/comment/info in the run up to the World Cup.

Worksop Town fans campaign for new home

Worksop Town has a long and proud tradition but sadly the club now finds itself homeless and stuck with a local council that is not only unwilling to help but seems to be actively preventing the club from finding a new home. It's not only the son of a porn baron who's shafted the club, but also a local party political rift. To find out more - and how you can help - follow the link below.

The Oblong Prepaid Rand MasterCard®

Going to the World Cup? Then protect your money, reduce the chance of theft, fraud and identity cloning by taking an Oblong Prepaid MasterCard® card in the local currency - Rand. Oblong cards are the new, safe, and secure way to spend money abroad.  Simply load the cards with Rand before you go or whilst there via the internet or mobile phone and then just use them anywhere where the MasterCard Acceptance mark is displayed.

As the exchange rate is lower than using a bank and as there are reduced charges on purchases or making ATM withdrawals you will save money whilst abroad.

Cards are available to FSF members at £19.50 which is more than a £10 saving on Oblong’s RRP. To take advantage of this fantastic offer or find out more go to www.oblongcard.co.uk/fsf or call 01494 432 438.

Cancelling so many games was snow joke

The big freeze saw fixtures disappear quicker than a snowman in summer. Were all the postponements really necessary though? We think that many games could actually have gone ahead and The Sun asked FSF chair Malcolm Clarke to explain exactly why winter games are getting the cold shoulder.

Trust in fans

You know things are bad when your club's website goes down 'cos they haven't got 50p for the virtual meter, as happened at Pompey last week. Luckily Pompey Supporters' Trust stepped in to the void and made sure fans still got all the latest ticket info. Crystal Palace' Supporters' Trust were also fighting to save their club while over at Old Trafford Manchester United Supporters' Trust have barely been out of the news, sticking it to the Glazers.

If you'd like to find out a little more about supporters' trusts, or even look to set one up at your club, visit the Supporters Direct website here.

Extra Time!

The modern age. Every goal is amazing, every tackle is vital, and every player a finely honed athlete. These gladitorial moments are captured in 3D super high-definition slow-mo for us to celebrate (or commiserate) to later. Football is art.

Except it's not really like that is it? Often players are just a bit ****. Awful misses, 'mistimed' tackles, and out of shape full-backs who are more Roberto Coltrane than Roberto Carlos.

February's Extra Time! celebrates football gone bad.
