You probably insure your car, your house, and yourself. Heck, Jennifer Lopez even insures her behind. If it’s important enough, it’s worth it. But what about your travel to away games? Ever had a last minute panic when you realise your supporters’ club could be stuck with travel costs for a game that isn’t going ahead? If you run a supporters’ club affiliated to the FSF you can apply to insure away travel to put an end to the headache. The policy even covers match ticket costs in certain circumstances.

Supporters’ groups across England and Wales often arrange their own coach travel to games. Some clubs don’t have ‘official’ travel, some prefer the extra flexibility that doing it themselves brings, and some just want to raise a few quid to keep their supporters’ clubs going.

If your supporters’ club arranges travel they can protect themselves against costs incurred through match cancellation, postponement, or abandonment. The policy also covers mechanical failure and road accidents which prevent attendance. At the same time the scheme provides Personal Accident cover to members travelling to matches, divisional meetings or events organised by the supporters’ club.

All FSF affiliated supporters’ clubs can join the FSF’s Insurance Trust Match Day Insurance Policy, run through ACE European Group Ltd. Costings vary on a case-by-case basis depending on how much you pay for travel. Cover costs 3.8% of the previous year’s total travel costs and can be worked out on a pro-rata basis.
