Ryanair, Easyjet, KLM and Iberia Airways all fly from the UK.
Barcelona El Prat Airport (also known as Aeropuerto Del Prat) is 12km southwest of the city centre, at Llogregat. It was modernised for the 1992 Olympic Games with lifts, escalators and ramps to facilitate disabled use, along with reserved disbaled parking spaces, disabled toilets and specially adapted telephones at wheelchair height. Most EU flights arrive at Terminal B. Banks and Bureaux de Change are located in all terminals and you will also find a wide variety of restaurants and bars to chose from. There is the option to duty-free shop and a 24hr pharmacy is on hand for all medical services should you need it. There is also a Hotel Information Kiosk in Terminal B to offer guidance on local places to stay, their telephone number is: 932 983 838 and Airport website www.aena.es.
If you are a seasoned traveller and don’t mind a challenge there is also the Barcelona Girona Airport which is smaller and further away (approximately 91km) from city centre, however with local transport it is possible to reach Barcelona city centre.
Getting from the airport to city centre
By Train
There are train services from the airport to the city centre’s main central station, Barcelona Sants, via the RENFE Mataro line. The RENFE Cercanias station is connected to the passenger terminal by a travelator, located between Terminals A and B. Trains run daily from 5:30am - 10:45pm, every 30 minutes. From the main station, you can take the Metro to the city centre. Many trains from the airport also run on to Plaça de Catalunya.
By Metro
Take the green line 3 to ‘Liceu’ for the Ramblas (the main street in central Barcelona Old Town).
By Bus
There are regular buses from each of the terminals. The Airbus runs to Plaça de Espanya, Gran Vía de les Corts Catelanes and Plaça de Catalunya, - 6am - 11pm daily, every 12 minutes, (approx €4)
By Taxi
There are taxi ranks located at the front of each terminal. A taxi from the airport will take between 20 - 30 minutes. It will cost in the region of €25 (depending on road conditions). There will also be an additional surcharge for each bag. Prices are displayed inside each cab. Taxis are yellow and black, a green light on the roof shows they are available.
By Car

By Ferry
Should you prefer not to fly it is possible to get a ferry to other destinations with in Spain and then use other means of transport to get to Barcelona.
Brittany Ferries operates a Plymouth- Santander ferry from mid-March to mid-November, twice weekly, and then once a week in the other months, roughly taking 21 hrs per journey. Check the website for departure times and prices. Brittany Ferries Tel: (UK) 08705 360360; (Spain) 942 360 611.
P & O Ferries operates a Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry virtually all year-round, roughly taking 30-35 hours per journey, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Check website for departure times and prices. P & O Ferries Tel: (UK) 0870 242 4999; (Spain) 902 020 461.
For connections between ports and cities, RENFE operates trains to all the major cities with InterRail and Eurail passes being valid on all trains. Regional Exprès and Delta trains can cover any long distance trips. It is advised to book well in advance and to be aware that there are supplement charges on the fastest trains, as well as a reservation fee.
By Train
You can travel by train from London to Madrid (via Paris) and then use the RENFE rail system to reach Barcelona. Please note the mail train station is not in Barcelona’s city centre however with a quick metro ride from the metro station Sants Estació you can be there in no time. By Bus
There are regular bus services from London to Barcelona, 3 times a week with Eurolines Tel: 08705 143219. The journey takes approximately 26 hours and cost £65 for a one-way ticket.
The main bus terminal for all domestic and international buses is Estació Nord, just north-east of Barri Gótic there telephone is: 932 656508, with the nearest Metro station being Arc de Triomf.
By Car
If you would prefer to driving to Spain from England, then you can either go through France (the cheaper option) or take a direct ferry please see ferry details above. Please note however parking is a major problem in the city centre and local authorities advise against it if possible.
