Cash/currency exchange offices
Most banks are located in Plaça de Catalunya and Passage de Grácia. ATMs and Bureau De Change are available at the airport, Barcelona Sants and at the tourist information office at Plaça Catalunya. Avoid the ‘Casas de Cambio’ (Exchange Houses) on Las Ramblas, their rates are far to high!
Chemists
There are at least one ‘Farmacia’ (marked with a green cross) in each neighbourhood is open 24 hrs.
Crime
Petty theft can be particularly in tourist areas. Use common sense and keep an eye on your belongings at all times should help you avoid your belongings going missing!
Electricity
The standard power supply in Barcelona is 240 V and a European 2-pin plugs is required for there sockets.

Entry Requirements
No visas are required to enter Spain for valid passport holders of the EU.
Health
No jabs are necessary for Europe. If you are an EU citizen an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) covers you for most medical care. You can apply online for an EHIC or you can telephone +44 (0) 845 606 2030, or pick up a form at any post office. Please note your travel insurance policy may be invalid without an EHIC.
Please ensure you have appropriate medical insurance before you travel.
Try to bring all medications in their original, clearly labelled containers. Take copies of your prescriptions in case you lose your medication and a signed / dated letter from your GP describing your medical conditions, including generic names, is a good idea. If it is necessary to carry syringes or needles be sure to have a GP’s letter documenting their medical necessity.

Internet Access
For internet access there is lots of small internet cafes around the city centre however two we found were Bigg, Calle Comtal 9, telephone +34 933 01 40 20 at a price of €2 per hour, open 9am - 11pm Monday to Saturday,10am-11pm Sunday. The nearest Metro Station being Plaça Catalunya and Cybermundo, Calle Bergara 3, Tel: +34 933 17 71 42. €1.20 - €2.90 per hr. Open 9am - Midnight Mon-Fri, 10am-Midnight Sat-Sun. The nearest Metro station also being Plaça Catalunya.
To phone home
Spain country code is 34. You can make international calls from almost any public phone. Phone cards are available from many tobacconists and internet cafes. Most phone boxes will accept coins as well as cards. The operator can be reached by dialling 1003 for domestic calls and 025 for international calls. Within Spain dial all 9 digits.
Time Difference
Spain is one hour ahead of Britain.
Tipping
It is not compulsory to tip however if you are satisfied with the service and want to leave a tip, 5-10% of bill amount should be sufficient.
Public Toilets
Most public toilets require a small fee to enter - this is either by slot machine or paying an attendant.
