Calle Betis is an area just across the river, and this are is extremely popular with students.

English & Irish bars
* Big Ben English Pub, Calle Betis
* Madigan’s Irish Pub, Plaza de Cuba is a typical Irish pub showing live sports and serving typical pub grub
* Flaherty’s Irish Bar, Calle Alemanes. An extremely popular Irish bar situated right next to the cathedral. A little more expensive than other bars because of its central location

Cruzcampo is the locally brewed beer which is worth trying and Sangria is popular with the tourists but try Tinto de Verano (a mix of red wine and lemon or orange soda), it is more authentic but does have less alcohol than sangria, and it’s cheaper

Calle Santa Maria La Blanca has many popular restaurants with outdoor tables and doing generous lunch menus for around €10, or if you don’t mind paying a little more head for Barrio Santa Cruz, a popular area with the locals and where there are plenty of restaurants to cover all tastes and budgets.
If you are going across the river, there are plenty of restaurants around Puente de San Telmo
Tapas bars are virtually on every corner, you’ll be spoilt for choice

Fast Food - There are two branches of McDonalds within the main city on Paseo Las Delicias and Avendina Republica Argentina, KFC is located at Calle Reyes Católicos, Burger King has two outlets at Calle San Pablo and Calle Arjona. Pizza Hut are also located on Calle Reyes Católicos and Calle Arjona. And if none of these take your fancy there are other outlets serving kebabs, hotdogs etc dotted around the city centre

A word of warning about the orange trees -Don’t eat the oranges off the trees lining the streets as they are usually very bitter and have been sprayed with chemicals to stop the birds eating them!
