There’s little doubt that last month’s Baku or Bust is one of the maddest projects we’ve heard about this year – in the nicest possible way you understand. Around 25 Welsh fans planned to drive to their country’s World Cup qualifier in Baku, Azerbaijan through France, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia. But that’s not all, they also promised to stop off at loads of orphanages along the way giving out books, toys and football gear as they went.

Baku or Bust was part of the Gôl! Campaign which has now raised more than £10,000 in total through this project alone and many thousands more via others – a fantastic achievement we’re sure you’ll agree. Read more on the daily blog here or donate to Baku or Bust here. Driving in convoy half way around the world sounds pretty intriguing to us, in a sort of Wacky Races style. If, like us, you want the inside track make sure to pick up your copy of tfs 017 (due mid-August). In tfs 017 the FSF’s very own Dick Dastardly aka Paul Corkrey aka Corky will be telling us all about their mad adventures which featured pickpockets, muggings, robberies, hospitalisations and arrests. Woah!

At the minute it's quite the epic, a mammoth 4,500 words - we even heard Corky refer to it as 'the Welsh Ulysses'. But we decided not to edit down or spell check yet. This is because we wanted to keep it rough and ready, maintain the element of realism that a true diary should have. Either that or we just didn't quite have the time yet.
