This past weekend (3rd - 6th July) the FSF was represented at the European Football Fans Congress organised by Football Supporters Europe (FSE), of whom the FSF is a founder member.

FSE is an independent, democratic, and representative network of grassroots football supporters with members in currently more than 45 countries in Europe, and the weekend saw fans from across the continent come together at the Mondiali Antirazzisti, the world's biggest anti-racist football festival, to share ideas and discuss the things that matter to them.

Among the subject matter of the various panels, workshops and discussions were the role of football fans in social protest movements, joint strategies against discrimination, the growing problems of repression against fans and initiatives for international cooperation.

FSE volunteers also live-blogged a number of the sessions, so you can get a better understanding of the topics that were discussed, and see more videos and interviews from the event, on the FSE EFFC Live Blog page

FSE Coordinator Daniela Wurbs said: "It is crucial that the European football family listens to the demands and problems of their fans and further enhances and promotes a dialogue with fans. This weekend, we've heard from many participants about their problems in countries when fans are treated firstly as a problem and not listened to, like in Italy, but also how the situation improved greatly in the countries, where such a dialogue exists."

The event also played host to the FSE AGM, where the elections for the FSE Committee for the coming season took place - the following representatives were elected: Kevin Miles (England), Martin Endemann (Germany), Michal Riecansky (Slovakia), Riccardo Bertolin (Italy), Dirk Vos (Belgium), Basar Yarimoglu (Turkey), Tine Hundahl Jensen (Denmark), Victoria Dominguez Almela (Spain).

The date and venue for 2015's Congress has already been decided - it will take place in Belfast on the first weekend of July 2015. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks on the FSE website
