Wrexham FC 150 smallEvery month the Football Supporters’ Federation features an affiliate or associate member to highlight good work carried out by fans - if you'd like to appear email info@fsf.org.uk. This month it's the turn of Wrexham Supporters Trust who are, quite literally, climbing a mountain to raise cash for their club...

This year is Wrexham Football Club’s 150th anniversary and, to celebrate this, the club is organising a number of events to raise much needed funds.

Wrexham are a 100% fan-owned club and rely heavily on supporters’ contributions. With this in mind we’d like your help in promoting an event that will give other trusts and supporters’ groups a chance to raise funds for their own organisation or club.

For the past three years, Wrexham fans have climbed to the highest point in Wales, Snowdon, as a fundraiser, raising close to £40,000. However, this year we are limiting the number of Wrexham fans making the walk to…150! This is where you come in...

We are looking for 150 other supporters’ trusts or supporters’ groups to join us in making the walk to raise funds for their own organisation. We want no more than two fans per trust/club registering for the walk and funds raised would go to their trust/group.

We've got about twenty clubs already committed to the walk, including Newcastle United, Coventry City, Grimsby Town, and Wycombe Wanderers, so that's a great start!

The walk takes place on Sunday 29th June 2014 and the ascent will start from the Pen-Y-Pass car park up the Miners Track route at 10am. Wrexham Supporters Trust will put on coaches departing from Wrexham at 8am, as there is minimal parking at the Pen-Y-Pass car park.

Those taking part will need to be reasonably fit and healthy. However, please remember that this is not a race to the top! We encourage everyone to take their time walking up; stop to have a rest if you need one.

Please note that at times you are required to scramble up rocks! The walk takes between three and four hours to reach the top, and about three hours to descend.

We would ask that everyone wear the football shirt of his or her team (over warm clothing) for an unforgettable photograph opportunity at the top of Snowdon.

All supporters’ groups are invited to put their representatives forward for this walk. The sooner they start collecting sponsors the more funds they’ll raise. Spread the word!
